This is a terrific film which show us the story of Alan Turing, a great mathematician who worked for Great Britain during the Second World War. He was in a Top Secret project working to descifrate the Enigma machine, the main tool for germans to comunicate their operations. Far away from getting along with tradicional decode methods, this genius thinks big, and decide to design a machine to beat another machine.
The film is based on reality. It’s surprising how yet today we don’t understand the importance of the role that science played in the war. This picture touches some interesting subjets such as the position of women back then, the internal conflicts of people with higher intelligence, homosexuality and the questionable politics during and after the war; because, not even after conflict Alan Turing was recognised as a war heroe. Even more, he was accused of homosexuality, and forced to take and hormonal treatment which lead him to suicide.
Thanks to his labor, historians have estimate that the duration of war decrased in two years, and also, his machine, Chirstopher, is considerate to be the first computer ever buildt.
